Olaf Rauch

Vita

The photographer and multimedia artist Olaf Rauch was born in 1966 in Duisburg. Since 1991 he lives and works in Bochum. There he founded in 1997 the advertising agency.netzpropaganda. The agency realizes websites, print products and strategies for its customers.

Since 2004 he works photographically with the urban and industrial roots of modern society. While his motives initially emerged in the Ruhr region, he works now throughout Germany and other European countries.

His photographical style is just the opposite of the Becher Style: Olaf Rauch waivedthe typical BW-reduction and works with unusual perspectives. in 2007 he founded the label nullkunsteins to present  his artifical works. At the same time he started to exihibit his work in regional and international exhibitions.

Since 2008 Olaf Rauch is the co-curator of the Ruhr Biennale. The 1st Ruhr Biennale was held in October an November 2010 in Duisburg and Bochum.

2009 Olaf Rauch organized the group exhibition "Transformation", which was shown as part of the art festival La vuelta del arte, organized by EL-DRAC. Beside his own works the exhibition has shown wokrs of Jochen Seelhammer, Marion Marquardt and Bernd Schäfer.

2010 he developed the idea of a festival of urban art. The first festival, called ARS URBANA Vol. 0: Experience Art, will start in the summer 2011 in an abandoned raliway station.
